What Kind Of Membership Site Are You Looking To Start Up

You have heard the buzz lately. If you open up your own membership site, you could generate a healthy monthly income with little to no maintenance work. When considering such an endeavor, it is important to know what your options are. While there may be a variety of variations on these themes, membership sites come in 7 basic flavors. Carefully examine your options to help you decide how you would like to set up your membership site.

Here are the seven barebones type of membership sites:

1. Coaching/ Mentoring Sites. These sites typically offer enrollees the benefit of expert advice exclusively available online covering just about any topic you can conceive. For example, learning to play gospel music on the piano by ear is a thriving membership site. It allows the owner/piano teacher to pass on his skills to a huge audience.

2. Private Label Rights. PLR sites usually serve several topic specific articles to its subscribers each month written specifically around a particular key word or phrase. These articles can be re-written as the members sees fit before placing them on their own website. Subscribers are usually webmasters who need to add fresh new information and content to their website or blog on a regular basis.

3. Social Site. Growing in popularity alongside what some term hook up sites, the social site explosion includes site that are interest specific. For example, sites that cater to the interests of Persian cat owners could congregate at a social site specifically for them. These types of social sites are growing in popularity.

4. Content Sites. One of the most marketable kind of membership sites, in that it presents its members with up-to-date information and resources with regard to a specific topic. This is customarily a highly specialized area in which the information provided would not be so readily available from other sources. Members will pay a regular subscription fee so that they can have immediate access to this site and its updated information.

5. Paid Newsletter. This is also a type of paid monthly membership service that has probably been around the longest. A writer or website owner would bring together specific content that is related to a particular theme. The membership benefits by having all the up to date information readily accessible to them without having to sort through various media outlets to find the same information.

6. Message Boards or Forums. Perhaps the oldest type of membership site, the forum or message board is typically free of charge. They are usually used as a sort of community center on a website. This allows enthusiasts of that particular websites topic to post relevant messages to other enthusiasts. While you might be able to charge a very low membership fee to access a forum containing rare information, it is not likely.

7. Content Delivered by Video or Audio. Membership sites that offer audio or video files of a specific topic on a monthly basis for website publishers.

As you can see, there are several types of membership sites that you can start. Use your imagination as the aforementioned are just the basic types. You can always create your own hybrid style membership site.
